CONTEST RULES

  1. Entries to be submitted only through the online ‘Entry Form’ [Submission rules will be as specified in the entry form]
  2. Only entries completed and/or released during the calendar year 2023 are eligible.
  3. All entries must be submitted within the stipulated deadlines, failing which entries will be disqualified.
  4. Entries previously submitted for the FICCI BAF Awards are not eligible.
  5. Participants may submit multiple entries. However, a separate entry form must be filled in for each entry
  6. If two or more companies have been involved in the production of an entry, it is permissible to have a joint submission. Any contention/dispute arising out of the same have to be resolved by the parties concerned.
  7. Please note: Each category has the following optional competition formats:
    • ‘Indian’ - This option is for Indian products i.e entries produced by Indian citizens OR companies/institutions registered in India. Additionally, in cases of partnerships, co-production & joint production, this is applicable provided the IP originated from an Indian citizen OR companies/institutions registered in India. However, the work execution could have been carried out anywhere in the world”
    • ‘International’ – For all entries produced outside India. Also, Indian entrants who wish to compete on an International platform can choose to participate in this ‘International’ format.
    • ‘Both’ - Alternately, Indian entrants can choose to participate in both ‘Indian’ and ‘International’ formats.
  8. The entry must be submitted in its original state and if alterations of any kind are noticed, the entry will be disqualified.
  9. If an entry is wrongly submitted in an unsuitable category or if there is any ambiguity, FICCI has the authority to move the entry into a relevant category.
  10. By submitting an entry for the BAF Awards 2024, the entrant is certifying that:
    • The entry was completed/released in the calendar year 2023
    • The entrant(Company/individual) either owns the rights to the entry or is authorized by the rightful owner to enter the same in the BAF Awards 2024.
    • The entry submitted is the entrant’s original work and that it does not infringe the copyrights or intellectual property rights of any third party.
  11. By submitting an entry for the BAF Awards 2024, the entrant agrees:
    • To grant FICCI the right to free, non-commercial usage of all materials submitted along with the entry including visuals, sound and text for use in the festival catalogue, web site, press releases, screenings and other promotional activities.
    • To grant FICCI the right to screen the entry to delegates during the FICCI FRAMES Festival and other events showcasing the BAF Awards thereafter.
    • To also grant FICCI the right to use clippings during the Awards Ceremony for the Presentation AV.
  12. If a deviation is required for one or more of the above-mentioned terms, a clear written request on official letterhead should be sent to FICCI. The onus lies with the Entrant to submit this ‘Deviation Letter’.
  13. FICCI will not be responsible for delayed, illegible, incomplete entries or other errors.
  14. Entrants are solely responsible for providing correct entry information. FICCI is not liable for incorrect spelling of project titles and entrants’ names as a result of incorrect information submitted on the entry forms.
  15. Any physical entry materials will become the property of FICCI and will not be returned to entrants except in the case of Gaming equipment.
  16. FICCI reserves the sole discretion to disqualify entrants found to be influencing, manipulating or tampering with the submission or selection process, providing falsified information or acting in violation of the rules and regulations.
  17. FICCI will automatically disqualify any entrant that submits an entry or supporting materials that contain text, sound or images that they, in their sole opinion and for any reason, find uncivil, vulgar, offensive, or inappropriate for public viewing, or that may present FICCIand the sponsors in a negative light.
  18. FICCI will oversee the Awards process and arbitrate disputes, if any. Any entrant who has a compelling reason for complaint or grievance whatsoever will do so with the necessary support documentation/evidence as required and send it to the FICCI Headquarters at New Delhi. FICCI’s decisions and interpretations of the official rules will be final and binding.
  19. Only Nominees will be provided invitations to the Awards Ceremony.

Requirements Specific to the Animation Categories

  • Submission will be through an online format with separate forms for each entry [Preferred file format: MP4]
  • Entries under the Animation Categories should have a minimum of 75% animation.
  • It is mandatory that non-English entries carry English sub-titles [Except for entries in the Animated Ad/Promo Film category for which sub-titles are not compulsory].
  • Animated Ad/Promo category includes commercials as well as promotional videos for events, shows, serials, film trailers etc
  • The Animated Non-Feature category includesShort Films/ Music Videos/ Episodes etc [Formats shorter than a film]
  • ‘Episode’can be across television, online, digital platform etc as long as it is episodic in nature
  • Animated Film category is open to Direct-to-DVD, Home Video, Telefilms, Online, Digital & Theatrical Releases, etc.

Requirements Specific to the VFX Categories

  • Submission will be through an online format with separate forms for each entry [Preferred file format: MP4]
  • Only live action based entries are permissible across all VFX categories.
  • It is mandatory for all entries to carry ‘Before & After’ shots that will clearly demonstrate the effects achieved.
  • The VFX Non-Feature category includes work done for Ad films/ Promo Films/ Short Films/ Music Videos/ Episodes etc [Formats shorter than a film].
    • The submission should comprise only of series of VFX shots extracted from the relevant entry and the video/content as is will not be accepted.
    • ‘Promo’ refers to any promotional video for events, shows, serials, film trailers etc
    • ‘Episode’ can be across television, online, digital platform etc as long as it is episodic in nature.
  • Film: This entry is open to Direct-to-DVD, Home Video, Telefilms, Online, Digital & Theatrical Releases, etc.The submission should comprise only of series of VFX shots extracted from the relevant film and the entire film as is will not be accepted.
  • VFX Shot of the Year Award is for a single VFX shot from a motion picture, and a sequence of shots will not be accepted. Although these can be submitted as separate entries.

Requirements Specific to the Gaming Categories

  • The organizers will arrange for popular mobiles and other devices/ peripherals required for game play. However, in such cases where there are special device/hardware requirements, the onus is on the entrant to provide all devices and peripherals essential to game play. The same will be returned to the entrant post the award process.
  • Entrants need to provide a Word/text document containing a brief summary of the game concept, a gameplay video, instructions for playing the game and its special features.
  • It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that their entry can be judged in the English language.
  • Entrants must ensure that the Full versions of the games are submitted. Trial versions or ‘Lite’ versions will be disqualified.
  • Mobile & Tablet Game definition: Games installed and played on mobile phones and tablet devices that have the ability to run games, but are not dedicated video game devices. A working link to one of the app stores (Google Play, App Store, etc) should be provided and if the game is not free to play, 10 promo/gift codes should be provided while submitting the entry.This category does not include games played via an internet browser or Social Media sites on the device.
  • Student Game: Playable builds are accepted.

Requirements Specific to the Student Entries

For all student categories, entrants must submit a bonafide certificate from their Educational Institution as proof.

Requirements Specific to the Open category

If your entry does not fall under any of the official award categories, but is an innovative application/ feature/trend developed in the field of the Animation, Gaming or VFX, you can enter in this category.

Note:

  • FICCI reserves the right to obtain additional documentation if deemed necessary.
  • FICCI reserves the right to modify or cancel the contest without prior notice.
  • FICCI’s decisions will be final and binding on all matters related to this contest.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

    FOR ENTRIES OUTSIDE INDIA
  • Where applicable, the participant will arrange, be responsible for and pay for the delivery of the entry and insurance from the country of origin to FICCI in New Delhi.
  • Any consignment from outside India must include the necessary pro-forma invoice and carry the text: ‘Temporary import for cultural purposes only - no commercial value’


  • AWARDS JURY
  • The basic premise of the FICCI BAF Awards is that SUBMISSIONS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR AN AWARD ONLY IF AND WHEN THE WORK MERITS AN AWARD. Nomination judging panelists may choose not to bestow any nomination in a category should the work submitted not be worthy of a nomination in their expert opinion.
  • FICCI will use judging panels in each category to screen all submissions for the purpose of determining the nominees in each category.
  • In general, there will be three nominations in each category. It is possible to have fewer than or more than three nominations in a category. It is also possible that a particular category may have no nominations at all.
  • Members of the jury are not allowed to have been involved in the making of any of the entries entered in competition.
  • The jury has the right to award special Jury Awards.


  • RIGHTS-FICCI

    The Festival acts according to its published event document. FICCI has the authority to resolve unclear situations, which are not dealt in the event document and which need to be resolved in order to carry out the Festival successfully. Amendments to the conditions contained in the event document are subject to approval from FICCI. Disputes will be resolved according to the event document and Indian law, in a Delhi court.

    AGREEMENT TO FESTIVAL CONDITIONS:

    By submitting an entry to participate in the FICCI BAF Awards, an entrant confirms his or her agreement to its conditions and promises to adhere to them.
